Colegio San Gabriel para Sordos en Puerto Rico (San Gabriel Deaf School in Puerto Rico), was my first deaf school that I attended from Pre-K to 1st grade. Even thought it was short years that I attended, I do remember some things that I involved. I was the lead role in the theater some of the act, group signing Puerto Rico Sign Language (LSPR) song, and holiday (like on the Halloween; I remember dressing up as a Snow White and other year was a Bunny). I love the Christmas holiday because in class my teacher gather each students' and family to celebrate the Christmas in the classroom plus teacher had some gifts for us (students). I love my school, teachers and classmates.

Mainstream school in Florida (FL):
Lake Sybelia Elementary School from 2nd-3rd grade
Bo Creek Elementary School from 3rd-5th grade
Neptune Middle School from 6th-7th grade
All that school in FL, my experience was awesome because I get to have a deaf program with a classmate who is deaf plus taking a one or two classes with my hearing classmate. So I have experience both side of the world in school. I used to have that in my school experience. When I moved to another state, it was a totally different from FL, because I was alone in mainstream and there was no deaf program. Which is a little kind of challenge plus to address the change of experience.
Mainstream school in North Carolina (NC):
Coulwood Middle School 7th-8th grade
Northwest School of Arts 9th-10th grade
North Carolina School for the Deaf (NCSD) 10th-12th grade
When I was graduating elementary school and ready to enter middle school, I wanting to sign up in a band to play a drum but my mother sign me up in Orchestra to play a violin. At first I was like why, lol okay fine give it a try. Violin was my first and only instrument I played and learned. I really thankful to my mom for signing me up this Orchestra and I really love it and enjoy. From 6th to senior year, I played my violin for a long time. I don't regret it. Violin was the best instrument that I get to experience and listening to the music. The reason why I was signed up is because it runs in the family. My mom sides family play different instrument; my grandpa played and still do today (he played a guitar, and other). Other members sing, dance, and play the instrument.
Growing up, I involved in dance (Ballet, Jazz, and Hip-Hop), cheerleader, and play violin.
At NCSD, for the past three years that I been there from 10-12 grade. I involved cheerleader, track and field, volleyball. I also continue to play my violin and went to Hickory from Morganton to go to practice and perform in the Symphony. The person who take a charge for the Student Body Government (SBG) asked me to be a president and I told him yes I accept it. I didn’t expect that I was only a junior student and second year student in NCSD. There was a girl that I won’t mention her name came to me and express her complain because I was ask to be a president and she wanting to be president since she was senior. I didn’t think that she will get upset, cuz it was not my fault. So I zip in and let her get that position and I take Vice President. Upcoming to my senior year, I still involves in the SBG and became a president. Those two years of involve SBG plus Academic Bowl I really enjoy learning and gaining my leadership that I never thought that I could lead it and become a better person and (Advocacy).
The Academic Bowl (AB) is where I found Gallaudet University that I didn’t know there were a deaf university the only school in the whole world. That is where I told to myself in junior year that I will go to Gallaudet University after I graduated NCSD. I filled the application to enroll Gallaudet and plan to apply one hearing university in my hometown. Before I continue about the result application for college. I plan to visit hearing college at my hometown (to visit the campus to see if I want to apply it or not), so my dad call that school admission about the date and time for the open house and my dad told the admission office that need to find interpreter cuz Daya is deaf. Guess what??? That school hang up on my dad due of my deaf. I was so shocked about that including my parents too were shock. So, I said that fine it their loss for losing a young talent artist deaf latinx woman that is "Me." So continue my application for Gallaudet only. I was so nervous and so my parents. Like a few months before I graduate NCSD, I got the result letter and email saying that I got accepted. We all were so EXCITING. That was pay off and I was so proud of myself. Then it was time for me to graduate NCSD and to become ALUMNI of Bear and becoming a Bison at the GU. At the graduation day at NCSD, I got the news that was giving a great opportunity and support from the NCSD (Bear) a scholarship for GU.

Thank you for taking your time into reading my Blog and upcoming tone for my next Blog about the journey at GU (Undergraduate).
